I have had this beautiful boy sketched up and waiting to paint for over a year. When the time came to put paint to canvas, it just flowed and I enjoyed every second of the process. I absolutely adore King Parrots, they are quiet and gentle birds that often visited the back tree of my old home. Their gentle nature is what I wanted to capture in this portrait, his pose and reflective gaze inspire thoughtfulness and a connection to nature.

The light shimmering off his wing feathers are what first drew me to the original reference photo and I hope I've done the brilliant colours in these stunning green wings justice. Nature is amazing and continues to inspire me.
